Motherhood is a life-altering, heart-opening experience.

Who celebrates the maiden as she transitions into motherhood?
Who holds the mother when she is newly born?
The vulnerability of the open-heart is vast.
The responsibility of the mother to her child is immense.
We need to have sisters, aunties, and mothers to support us as we birth into our most precious responsibilities. We need to have access to compassionate wisdom and guidance. We need to have recognition and acknowledgement of the magnitude of the undertaking.
When I became pregnant, I read all that I could about pregnancy, labor & birth, and caring for a newborn.
But it was not enough.
I needed to hear stories from sisters who knew me well and cared about me deeply. From sisters who shared the same values that I held dear to me. From sisters who were well-informed and well-resourced.
Instead, there was well-meaning but misguided advice, unprocessed birth stories, and a lot of invalidation and judgement.
There was the incomprehensible expectation that life would go back to “normal” and the impossible notion that I, mother, could “do it all”.
At HELDwombspace we are co-creating safe, boundaried, non-judgemental spaces for our sisters as they journey through the open-hearted-transition of motherhood.
