How Can I Support You?

My role at this special time is to mother the mother and support the newborn family.

Life after birth is a time of transition, adjustments and new responsibilities. Life as you know it has been turned upside down.

Human babies are born dependent. This is biological program allows for mother-child bonding and learning; their needs are non-negotiable. However, society had discarded this wisdom, So the mother, baby and family are left to figure out how to adapt to society instead of being supported by society.

As a post-partum doula, I attempt to bridge the gaps by providing for what society no longer provides the newborn family:

A pair of hands from the missing village,
Wisdom to nurture postpartum recovery,
Reassurance of baby’s development,
Practical organization of household tasks, and
Making sure that the needs of siblings, pets, and partners are attended to.

This support is extended to NICU families and those who experienced a challenging pregnancy and/or birth.

Feedback

“Have you ever watched someone gently hold a butterfly, careful not to harm its delicate wings? Maharani was just like that for me. At a time when my mental state was fragile-teetering on the edge after being diagnosed with postpartum depression-she offered a level of care and compassion that kept me from breaking.

Maharani didn’t just show up; she showed up with intention and heart. She came to my home when I was at my lowest, supporting not just my body, but my mind and heart as well. With incredible sensitivity, she took the time to explain postpartum depression to my family, helping them understand what I was going through and how they could truly support me in my recovery. She connected me with doctors and resources I desperately needed, and, most importantly, she truly saw me and heard me.

Her care was not only deeply rooted in her passion for mothers but also enriched by a foundation of science. Maharani’s approach as a doula is both unique and profoundly effective -a blend of knowledge, empathy, and unwavering support.

Thanks to her, I didn’t just survive postpartum depression-I began to heal. For that, I will always be grateful.”
